Please read through the following frequently asked questions. Clicking on a question will expand to display the answer. Registering and Logging In

I have a registration code and am registering for the first time.
  1. Register for a SPARKfamily account. Register for a SPARKfamily account using your school email on the registration page. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete your registration. We encourage users to register with an organization (your school or district), if applicable. Registration requires your school email address, district or school address information, and a password that is 8 characters in length. A confirmation email will be sent to your email address.
  2. Activate access to purchased courses. Once you log in to SPARKfamily, you will be brought to the Welcome Page. Click on the program that you purchased in the left menu. Enter the registration code that came with your product. Click Submit and wait for the page to reload.
  3. Access course resources. Once you have entered a registration code, you will be able to click on the link(s) associated with that course in the left menu to access related resources.
I am a previous SPARKfamily user. What do I do?

Please proceed to the Registration page and follow the steps to register for an account. You will then enter your registration code as detailed above.

I do not know if I am part of an organization or if I am considered an individual.

If you are a teacher or administrator with a school district, please register as a member of an organization. This will allow you to be identified with your school or district and be informed of updates or additions to your district's School Specialty products. If you do not work for a school, district, or university, please register as an individual.

I cannot find my school district in the system. What should I do?

If your organization is not found, please try modifying your search criteria. For additional assistance, please contact SPARKfamily Online Support at 800-513-2465, Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM ET, or email us at loginhelp@schoolspecialty.com

After I registered, I did not receive the confirmation email message. What should I do?

Check your spam folder for a message from School Specialty. If your district requires email senders to be validated, add loginhelp@schoolspecialty.com to your list of approved contacts. If you still do not receive the message, please contact loginhelp@schoolspecialty.com

I am not located in the U.S. What do I do?

Unfortunately, our system does not have the ability to process addresses outside the U.S. or Canada at this time. If you are working for an international school, we suggest registering with the address of an affiliate organization in the U.S. Alternatively, you can register as an individual.

I would prefer not to log in. Can I still use the site?

The SPARKfamily site is for registered users only.

When I try to log in to SPARKfamily, I get an error message that says "Authentication failed. Please try again."

This error message will occur if you type your username incorrectly or if you are entering an email address that you did not use to register. Your username should be your school-issued email address. If you don't remember what email address you used to register, you can register again using your school email. This message will also be displayed if you enter an incorrect password.

I am trying to choose an appropriate password, but the system keeps telling me I have entered "invalid data."

To be considered valid, your password must be 8 characters in length and is case-sensitive. If you forgot your password, go to the log-in box on the homepage and click Forgot your password?

I am a teacher and I forgot my user name and/or password.

Your user name is your email address. Please make sure you are using your school email address. If you registered using a different email address, you can register again using your school-issued email address. If you forgot your password, go to the Log In box on the homepage and click Forgot your password? You will be prompted to enter the email address you used to register and to answer your password retrieval questions selected during registration. Once the answers are submitted, you will receive a new password by email.

I am a teacher and I want to change my password.

To change your password, log in to the site with your current user name and password. In the user menu, select Edit Your Profile. Scroll down to the Update Password section and click on "Edit" on the far right-hand side. You will be prompted to submit a new password. Your password must be 8 characters long and is case-sensitive.

Accessing SPARKfamily Courses

Where can I find my registration code?

Registration codes are provided via email. If you cannot locate your registration code, or have lost it, please contact the person in your building responsible for School Specialty purchasing.

How do I use my registration code to access course resources?

How do I change my profile information and my password?

In the yellow box with your name in the top left corner of the screen you will see a drop down arrow. Click and select “Edit your Profile”.

I did not receive an email with my registration code to access the new program I purchased, what should I do?

It could take up to 5-10 minutes to receive the email with the code. If you don’t receive one within 15 minutes, contact us.

Why are some programs dimmed and I am not able to click on them?

These are programs that you have not purchased yet so you do not have access to them. You can preview other programs by clicking on Free SPARK Content and viewing lessons from other programs.

How do I purchase a new program?

In the navigation bar click on the “+” sign next to the program you want to purchase. You will be taken to the School Specialty iStore where you can complete your transaction. You may need to create an account for the iStore before purchasing.

I purchased a program but it is not showing up in the navigation bar?

Try refreshing your screen, and if that doesn’t work log out and log back in and it will be displayed with the rest of your programs.

How do I renew a program?

In the yellow box with your name in the top left corner of the screen you will see a drop down arrow. Click and select “Add a Renewal Code”.

How do I find lesson plans for each program?

When you select the program, you will see a menu with a list of units. Open the unit you want to access and a list of the lesson plans will be displayed. These are identified by a blue clipboard. Select the lesson and then the first document will be a pdf file of the lesson plan.

Where are the supplemental documents for the lesson plans like skill cards, task cards, music, and videos?

All of the files you need to teach a lesson will be found in the same folder as the lesson plan. Or you can click on the “Skill Cards and Task Cards” link or the “Additional Resources” link to access them as well.

Where are the assessments located?

There is a link in every unit that takes you to a folder which holds all of the assessments that are used for the lessons plans.

What is the link “Purchase Equipment” for?

This link will take you to a page on the School Specialty Marketplace where you are able to purchase all of the equipment used in that specific SPARK unit.

After viewing lessons and resources, how do I go back to the previous page?

First click the exit in the top right corner to exit out of the resource. Then you can click the drop down arrow which will close the unit or the program to then allow you to choose something else.

What should I do if my music file or video won’t play?

Try opening it in a different internet browser.
